How To Clean Shower Doors

Shower doors are usually made from glass or plastic. They come in various sizes and shapes, and they can be installed either horizontally or vertically. Unfortunately, the door’s surface can get dirty over time, especially if it gets wet frequently.

To prevent mold growth, you should wipe down the surfaces regularly. If you notice mildew growing on the surface, you should immediately remove it.

As a general rule, you should clean your shower door at least once every two weeks (otherwise you risk hard water stains); however, you need to do this more often if you have kids around the house. You should not use soap to clean the glass surface as it can cause damage.

The first step is to make sure all soap scum has been removed by washing the shower walls with warm water and some dishwashing liquid. Ensure you rinse the entire door well, so you don’t miss any areas. Afterward, dry the wall entirely before applying a cleaner to them.

Bathroom Spray

A spray with bleach can kill bacteria and disinfect the shower area. Just make sure you only use a little and keep it away from your body. This will ensure that you won’t end up causing significant harm to your skin!

Use Lemon Juice To Remove Stains From Shower Doors

One of the best solutions I’ve ever found was lemon juice. It works exceptionally well as a stain remover. All it takes is rubbing the affected area with a piece of cloth soaked in lemon juice for a few minutes until the stain disappears.

Slightly damp white paper towels work perfectly as a scrubbing agent. Simply rub the stains with the towel and then rub off the excess with another somewhat wet towel.

Limescale Remover

This is probably my favorite way to keep my shower sparkling clean. This product dissolves limescale and other minerals that accumulate inside the shower.

How Much Time Should A Bathroom Take To Clean?

While it sounds like a lot of work, you really don’t need to spend hours cleaning your bathroom every week. Even better, doing so will enable you to save money on your utility bills.

Tips To Keep Your Bathroom Clean

The following tips should make your life easier when it comes to keeping your bathrooms clean:

#1 Make Sure That You Regularly Check Your Plumbing System For Leaks.

Do not ignore any signs of fluid loss. Call a plumber immediately if you notice excessive dripping from the sink, bathtub, or toilet. In addition to wasting water, leaking pipes can lead to severe flooding and mold growth problems.

#2 Replacing Faulty Windows

When replacing a window, consider installing high-efficiency dual pane windows with metal frames. Double pane glass uses less energy, reducing noise levels coming from the outside. These windows also reduce the chance of moisture seeping through and causing mold. It’s also easy to maintain.

However, if you prefer, you can opt for vinyl windows instead. Vinyl windows are less expensive than metal frames, plus they offer many benefits. For example, they won’t rust, warp, or crack. Vinyl windows are also durable and last for years.

#3 Use A Mild Bleach Solution To Disinfect Your Shower Walls.

Spray some cleaner onto a sponge and scrub the surface with an abrasive material. Then, rinse the area thoroughly with clear water. Repeat the process three times over.

#4 Keep Your Shower Stall Free Of Hair, Dirt, And Other Contaminants.

To do this, try using a special drain unblocking product. They can be expensive, though!

#5 Clean Your Shower Door Thoroughly Once Or Twice A Month.

Be sure to wipe down both sides of the glass using a soft cloth. Rinse the soap residue away, then leave the area dry.

#6 Make Sure Your Bathtub Isn’t Leaking.

The tub should be clean before filling it with water. Once the tub is filled, there may be a leak if the water is still going down with the plug-in.

If you suspect that something is wrong, call a professional plumber immediately. They can correct any leaks and provide recommendations for future preventive measures.

#7 Turn Off Your Tap When Brushing Your Teeth Or Shaving.

This will help conserve water and reduce the amount of limescale build-up. Never run the tap while brushing your teeth. Doing so wastes more water than you think.

There’s usually no reason for water to be flowing while you brush your teeth. Instead, turn off the water faucet and rinse your mouth. Also, make sure that your toothbrushes are correctly stored. Store them in a container to prevent gross stains on your sink.

#8 Install Motion-Activated Faucets.

These fixtures shut off the water flow as soon as they detect movement. Typically, they operate at a higher price point than standard faucets. However, they can save loads of water.

#9 Change Your Shower Head Regularly.

Changing your shower head every 3 years is generally recommended. Newer models are usually more efficient, while older ones often leak. So replacing them makes good sense.

#10 Consider Installing Tiles Instead Of Using Paint.

This offers a more attractive and durable alternative. Additionally, tiles tend to last longer than paint.

How To Get Rid Of Shower Mold?

Mold is something that we cannot always see unless we look closely enough. Unfortunately, it does typically spread quickly and does multiply. However, it can be controlled with proper measures. Here are some valuable tips:

  • Open windows when possible during the summer months. Keep bathrooms well ventilated.
  • Avoid letting moisture accumulate in the shower area.
  • Rinse off the shower after use. Remove soap scum from the walls. Use a sponge mop to dry the floor and walls.
  • Clean around showers frequently. Scrub mold away from the splash backs and wall corners.
  • Clean the grout regularly as this is a hot spot for mold build up
  • Sweep floors regularly.
  • Seal cracks and gaps in the walls where moisture might enter.
  • Never leave wet towels lying around. Be careful about leaving used rags in the bathroom or laundry room.
  • Make sure that all drains are clear.
